K+J were married at the Caso Station in St. Thomas

I met Karli at a bridal show that was held at the Caso Station, the beautiful venue that she would get married at 6 months later. She reached out and we set up a consultation to discuss the day. Karli was doing all the planning herself, but like so many brides, she wanted someone to step in and take care of everything on the day of so that she could relax and enjoy her wedding day exactly the way she had envisioned and planned it to be. This is where I came in. I loved working with this couple and their crew! And what a great crew they have! Their wedding party consisted of a Best Woman, a Man of Honor and Bridesmen. I love this! I love when couples are not afraid to do exactly what is right for them just because it could look a little different than what we might typically see or what would "look best for the photos". If you ask me, there's no better way to create your own uniquely personal wedding customized to suit YOU! It's your day, do it your way!

All the Pretty Details

All of the details that they chose for their wedding created a cohesive look and feel to the day that started even before the wedding, when guests received their invites. I love when time and effort is purposefully put into artfully creating the details shots and we made sure to make time for this in K+J's timeline with their photographer. The details are such an important part of capturing the full story of your wedding day, you put a lot of heart into choosing each of these elements so here's a beautiful way to remember them. Capturing the day for K+J was Weaver Photography out of St. Thomas.

And speaking of putting heart into the details...

There were many special touches you could find throughout K"J's wedding day! It's so heartwarming when the couple thinks of all the little details that will bring such love and meaning to the day. Here's your sign to remember all the small things you can do to put your very own personal touch on every aspect of your wedding day!

Their wedding attire was on point!

The bridesmaids each had different dresses in shades of green and the bridesmen coordinated with green ties and let's talk about green for a minute! Sage green is all the rage right now for wedding attire, and rightly so because it's a gorgeous colour! (one of my personal favorites at the moment) Sage green is a very natural and elegant colour and it brings a certain 'softness' to the overall look and feel of the day! We are also seeing a lot more of this idea of letting bridesmaids choose their own dresses in the wedding world these days and this is a 'trend' that I hope sticks around and becomes the new normal! A little tip if you are doing this, I do like to suggest that you provide your bridesmaids a "style" and fabric to try to stick to. Choosing a style (long and flowy, short and fun etc..) and fabric will help portray a cohesive style to your day, and the fabric is also important for the photography of your day. For example if just one of the dresses are silk, this is going to photograph differently than the others and may stand out a little bit. K+J's wedding party was dressed perfectly :)

Have some fun!

We have all seen the cupcake wedding cake towers, right? Well, K+J are not 'cake people'. This meant that a wedding cake, or even cupcakes, really weren't their jam, but they did want something. Since they love candy more than cake they came up with the best solution, a wedding cake pinata!! How fun is this?! They still got to have their "Wedding Cake" on display in the reception room as a beautiful element of their day, but little did guests know how different K+J's cake cutting tradition would be! I hope this gives everyone out there planning their wedding some inspiration for creativity when it comes to personalizing your wedding day!

An Evening Wedding & Cocktail Reception

There is no one size fits all when it comes to wedding planning. K+J have proved this with many of the aspects of their wedding day and again with the time of day they planned it for! An evening (6pm) wedding meant that they didn't serve a traditional sit down dinner. Instead they opted for an amazing charcuterie board during their 'cocktail hour' and a nacho bar for later in the evening. Charcuterie is an absolutely ideal way to serve food at your cocktail hour, not only does this culinary art look amazing, but guests love it and you can be sure there will almost never be any waste! It's an easy and beautiful way to serve something guests can have fun enjoying!

In closing

K+J's day was perfect! They completely understood how to customize and personalize their day and I hope it encourages many other couples out there to have fun with it, personalize it and remember that it's your day, so don't be afraid to do it your way!
