A Cold, Snowy, Ontario Winter Engagement Session
Are we in for "Real Ontario Winters" again like we used to get?
It feels like I stepped back in time! I remember growing up we used to get very snowy winters! Being on the farm, we loved when Dad blew the snow what seemed like every day and piled it high for toboggan hills, and we always had a snowmobile or two around to embrace winter with as well. So I used to love our snowy Ontario winters. But in the past many years, it seemed we didn't get a true winter anymore. Sure, it still got cold, and even VERY cold days, and we still got snow, but not like we used to! That was until last year. "Real Winter" has been making a comeback these past two years! Are we in store for this for a while again? I mean, I'm not mad about it, because I would take these gorgeous snowy winters over the muddy gross ones any day, but I do have to say I HATE being cold! (as I sit here on a cold day, in my nice sunny office in front of a heater with a hot chocolate in hand writing this blog post)
A Winter Golden Hour is *almost* as good as a fall one!
Sometimes, the most magical moments happen in the middle of it all. I recently had the pleasure of photographing a wonderful couple for their engagement session, and despite the very chilly temperatures, they brought warmth, laughter, and love to every frame. I always recommend "golden hour" engagement session, and in the winter, you may or may not get any golden hour light at all. It was looking very much like that would be the case for this session. However, the sunset decided to peak through afterall, it gave a sparkle to the snow on the ground and it was snowing just ever so lightly too which made it all even more magical. We were all frozen by now (them more so then me since I'm all bundled up!) but they grabbed some mitts and hats and we continued! I'm sure glad we stuck it out and got that beautiful light!
If you’re dreaming of a winter engagement session to capture your love and connection, I’d love to work with you. Get in touch to book your session and embrace the season with me!
