This spring, I launched a new business!
I have been photographing families and weddings since 2007, and I am so excited to pair this with my passion for event planning. This combination has blossomed into "Melissa V. Photography & Event Planning"
After years of having this (wedding planning) on my mind, I'm finally doing it!! It wasn't until I planned my own wedding in 2020 that my thoughts became serious. But they were still just thoughts at that point because I had no idea how on earth I would have time to dive into wedding planning, while still leaving time for my photography side hustle and my full time job, not to mention a few other volunteer commitments I had going on, plus a life outside of all this with my family, a new husband and our fur babies! Now, for those of you who don't know me - I like to keep busy if you couldn't tell, but something had to give if I wanted to do this. It was time to get serious about this and figure out how to make this work - except, we were in a pandemic. So, maybe starting an event planning business when events and weddings were mostly on hold, wasn't a great idea. So, I decided to keep on keeping on for the time being and to work on a plan to make this happen in the meantime.
Then, 2 years later, my full time job came to an end when the business owners decided to sell. This was my chance! So, here I am a few months later, with a shiny new Wedding and Event Planning Certificate and prepared and ready to start planning!
Now a little more about me...
I grew up a farm girl, I now live in a small town outside of London, Ontario, but still and always will be a farm girl at heart. I long for the day we can find some land. We currently have 2 dogs, a cat and 8 outdoor bunnies. Yep, 8 bunnies! That's a little of the farm girl coming out in me :)
My dog, Kenzie, is like a child to me, she's got such a personality and so many have told me she's like a little human. She was born on my parent's farm and I knew she had to be mine since the day I met her as brand new pup. She's turning 12 this year but she is still full of life and loves camping and adventures with us. She is a husky-heeler-shepherd mixed breed, but her hair and her attitude is all husky I tell ya! Her "sister" Roxy, (my husband's dog) has become her best friend, but she doesn't want anyone to know or think that so she hides it well. ;)
I met my husband in 2015 and we got married in the height of the Covid Pandemic in October 2020. He is a huge supporter for me in all the ways and I literally couldn't have started this additional event planning venture without him on my side. He's always up for anything and its one of the things I love most about him.
In my free time you'll find me gardening, attempting yoga, camping, drinking hot chocolate and spending time with my loves.
