Christmas is my favorite time of year!! This year I was really trying to embrace the whole season and take it all in, because it's always here and gone way too fast. So as this holiday season comes to an end, I find myself reflecting on all the families I had the honor of photographing this Christmas. I found these sessions throughout late November and December all the way up to Dec. 22nd, to really help me take in the holiday season. Something about being surrounded by all the beautiful Christmas decor, twinkling lights and families full of Christmas cheer really kept my holiday spirits up! The closer we got to Christmas, the more exciting each session got for both me and my clients! I offered several different locations and Christmas settings this year and had so much fun with each of them! I'll certainly be doing this again next year! It's always a reminder of why I love what I do and meeting new faces and reconnecting with familiar ones each year fills my heart with so much joy.

Whether it was a toddler’s giggle, a cozy embrace, or the sweet chaos of getting everyone to smile at the same time, each moment was uniquely special. If you've had a session with me before, or if you know my style, you'll know that we are not just here to capture perfect poses with everyone looking and smiling, but the emotion and stories that the images tell. What's captured isn't just images; they are memories in the making—snapshots of laughter, connection, and togetherness during one of the most magical times of the year.

Getting Christmas photos taken isn't just about the final product (though let’s be honest, those beautifully framed memories and holiday cards are priceless). It’s also about creating an experience that brings the whole family together in the spirit of the season.

Here are just a few reasons to make Christmas photos an annual tradition:

1. Family Connection

Taking time out of the busy holiday schedule to focus solely on each other is a gift in itself. Whether it’s snuggling up inside in front of the Christmas decor or braving the cold under some twinkle lights or in a snow storm if we get so lucky, the experience fosters a sense of unity and celebration.

2. Capturing Growth and Change

Kids grow fast, and family dynamics evolve. I know I see the changes with my loyal clients who I get to see each year. Not only the jump from newborn to 1, which is obviously the biggest change, but even from ages like 6 to 7! Christmas photos document these changes year after year, creating a visual timeline of your family’s journey.

3. Building Traditions

I'm a sucker for traditions, and especially Christmas ones! They bring a sense of nostalgia and warmth to the holidays. Annual photo sessions become something everyone remembers, reminiscing about the previous year’s shoots and their favorite photos.

4. Sharing Joy

One of the reasons most people love to get Holiday photos done is because they are the perfect way to send personalized Christmas joy to loved ones near and far. Whether it's snail mail, email or even just having the perfect photo to post at Christmas time. They’re a way to spread cheer and stay connected with friends and family, especially those who you may not be able to celebrate with in person.

Looking Forward

As I look back on this season, I’m reminded of how truly blessed I am to share these moments with so many wonderful families. Thank you to everyone who trusted me to capture your holiday memories. Your joy and love inspire me more than words can express.

To those thinking about scheduling Christmas photos next year, I promise you won’t regret it. It’s a fun, meaningful activity that celebrates the heart of the holidays: family, love, and joy.

As I wrap up this blog post, I can't go without expressing many Thanks to the beautifully decorated places that welcomes us in their spaces for theses photos sessions. Each location added it's own charm and magic into creating these perfect Holiday memories. Your creativity set the tone for theses cherished moments and I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to work within these inspiring settings. Many Thanks to LR Studios Belmont who welcomed me many times this year to their Studio, Wheatfield Estate with their 2 lovely cabins and a gorgeous twinkle light clearing in the forest, my parents who not only let me use their property but also Mom who helped me with the Christmas setups both inside and out at their place, my husband for the amazing sleigh and another private property that welcomed me back this year to their farm for an perfect evergreen backdrop. None of these Christmas sessions would be possible without all of your generosity and beautifully decorated spaces.
